Corn Grazing Tips:
Expect costs to be approx $.80 / head / day. Yields of 15 MT + are achievable. 1 acre of corn can feed 200 + cows / day. Be prepared to use a hot wire to limit feed. Suggest 3 days feed / move.
Q. I have 100 cows. How much corn do I need to grow to feed for 3 months (Nov, Dec & Jan) ?
A. First figure out how many cow grazing days are required.......100 cows X 90 days = 9000 cow days. Assumption that production equals 250 ADA (animal days / acre). Then take 9000 cow days / 250 cow days / acre = 36 acres required.
** 3 day moves in this calculation would equal 1.2 acres (36 acres / 30 moves).**
